This machine has been specifically designed for sanding turned components and, in particular, turnings with plainly shaped as well as heavily profiled portions to which it gives a hitherto un-attained overall finish.

The machine comes in two sizes:
PH-9 for work up to 900 mm long,
PH-12 for work up to 1200 mm long.

The automatic hopper feed, combined with the knocking -out and ejecting system of the machine, allow work up to 100 mm in diameter to be sanded in
a fully automatic cycle.

Larger parts up to 150 mm in diameter can be sanded by placing them in the machine by hand.

The excellent sanding results are accomplished by the fact that the machine incorporates the advantages of two different sanding methods: belt sanding and brush sanding (procedure using brush-backed sanding cloth).

In contrast to the current method of sanding the entire turning by means of sanding cloth pressed against the rapidly revolving workpiece with the aid of brushes, the


heavy duty sanding on this machine is done on the 1st and 2nd station by two high-speed belts running vertically to the axis of the revolving workpiece.

The hydraulic tracer, operating from a metal template or wooden model, presses the belts against the surface to be sanded and controls them as they travel lengthways of the workpiece.

Owing to the possibility of rough sanding the work with a coarse belt, followed by a belt with finer grits, an impeccable finish is ensured even with turnings which are in a fairly rough condition.

Only the lightly profiled (template turned) portions are belt sanded.

Sharp members and beaded contours (turned by means of profile cutters) are sanded on the 3rd and 4th station using brush-backed slashed sanding cloth.

For best results the sanding rack holding 2 rows of sanding cloth rolls of varying grain can be made to oscillate lengthways and across. The length of the oscillation strokes is adjustable.
